There's a lot more we oughta know about the famous force-to-be-reckoned-with that is Alanis Morissette — and she's about to delve deep into her story for a new ABC sitcom called Relatable.
Morissette is writing original music for the series and will also be executive-producing the project.
The single-camera comedy — helmed by co-creators Elizabeth Beckwith and Christopher Moynihan — will follow the life of a woman in her 40s who spent much of her young adulthood as an international rockstar renowned for her anthems of teen angst and rage.
Now married with three children, the former voice of her generation can't seem to get through to the next one living under her roof. Ugh, kids these days.
Morissette's life will "loosely inform" both the characters and the stories, although the show will be fictional. But of course, we can't gloss over the fact that Morissette is also a mother who was the singular voice of angst in the '90s when she burst onto the scene with her breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill. Definitely no coincidental irony to be found here.
Here's hoping Relatable is more of an authorized peek into the singer-songwriter's life than the recent Jagged documentary, which she condemned as having a "salacious agenda." The feature documents some of Morissette's harrowing early experiences in the music industry, including being a victim of statutory rape.
