Bilal Baig and Fab Filippo's CBC sitcom Sort Of has been renewed. The 13-time Canadian Screen Awards-nominated series will return for a second season.

"We are so thrilled that we are able to dive back into the worlds of Sort Of and to keep exploring the evolution of all our characters (including some new ones!) as they continue to investigate who they are in the world as friends, family members, lovers and human beings," said Baig, who serves as showrunner, executive producer and lead actor.

Season 1 of Sort Of — which premiered on CBC Gem last October — followed Sabi Mehboob (Baig) as they straddle many different identities: being the youngest child in a large Pakistani family, a bartender at an LGBTQ+ bar/bookstore and de facto parent to a downtown hipster family. The gender-fluid millennial finds themselves in transition, wondering if any of the labels they've previously adopted in love, family, sexuality and career remain applicable — let alone useful.

The series was an official selection of the Toronto International Film Festival last year.
