After having his forthcoming new project picked up by Hulu last month, Dan Levy has now signed a production deal with Netflix.
Variety reports that Levy's deal with the streaming giant is "said to be eight figures under competitive circumstances," and will see the Schitt's Creek star work on both movies and television.
The outlet adds that Levy's work with Netflix will begin on the film side, with an untitled romantic comedy that he will write, direct and star in, while producing alongside Stacey Snider and Kate Fenske of production company Sister. Levy will begin working on television in July 2022, come the end of his deal with ABC Signature.
Schitt's Creek, which capped its sixth and final season last year with historic Emmys wins, grew in popularity after it landed on Netflix in January 2017. The show also landed amongst Exclaim!'s 13 Best TV Series of 2020.
"Netflix offered Schitt's Creek a second home at just the right time and opened the doors to a whole new audience for us," Levy shared in a statement [via Variety]. "Watching the show thrive there has only enhanced my excitement about continuing to tell specific, meaningful stories with them in both TV and feature film. A full circle moment."
Last month, Hulu ordered a pilot presentation of Levy's Standing By, an animated comedy concerning guardian angels co-written and executive-produced with writer-director Ally Pankiw.
In October, Dan and Eugene Levy will publish an official Schitt's Creek book.
