Jerry Seinfeld is adapting one of his stand-up jokes for a new Netflix comedy film called Unfrosted. Seinfeld will star, direct and produce the film, which was inspired by a joke about the invention of Pop-Tarts.
Co-written with Spike Feresten and Barry Marder, the film either stands to be a heady exploration of consumerism or a goofy waste of everyone's time. In a statement to Deadline, it appears Seinfeld is leaning toward the latter.
"Stuck at home watching endless sad faces on TV I thought this would be a good time to make something based on pure silliness," Seinfeld said.
He continued: "So we took my Pop-Tart stand-up bit from my last Netflix special and exploded it into a giant, crazy comedy movie."
So far, other details pertaining to the project — including its release schedule, Seinfeld's co-stars, etc. — are being kept under wraps.
