It's been one hell of a tough year for Kevin Smith, who had a serious near-death experience when he was hospitalized with a massive heart attack. Now he's just cancelled his Calgary appearance that was scheduled for tonight due to a "family emergency."

Smith shared the following statement about the cancellation at Calgary's MacEwan Hall on Twitter:

CALGARY! I offer my profuse apologies for having to cancel tonight's performance of HOLLYWOOD BABBLE-ON. We're dealing with a family emergency today that's preventing me from getting to the plane in time to make the show. I'm so sorry to inconvenience the fine folks of Flames country who purchased tickets. We'll be rescheduling the performance shortly.

According to a press release from Live Nation, tickets purchased online and by phone will be refunded automatically. Ticket holders that bought in-person are eligible for a refund at their point of purchase.
