The Roses from 'Schitt's Creek' Reunite to Present at the 2021 Emmys

Somehow a year has already passed since the sitcom's historic sweep at the awards in 2020

After sweeping the 72nd Emmy Awards last year with nine wins, the cast of beloved Canadian sitcom Schitt's Creek reunited yesterday (September 19) for this year's broadcast as presenters.

The series' Rose family — Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy and father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy — appeared together during the 73rd primetime awards show, returning to present the award for Directing for a Comedy to Lucia Aniello (Rough Night) for her work on HBO's Hacks. The award was one of the nine awarded to the sixth and final season of Schitt's Creek last year, with Dan being recognized as co-director.

Naturally, the cast's easygoing chemistry and comedic timing were present in spades this year, as O'Hara gallantly bestowed the envelope with the winner's name upon Eugene after his repeated complaints that his lines had been cut from the teleprompter.

Who doesn't love a good family reunion? The only thing that could put a damper on a night like this was the award show's lack of COVID-19 protocols, according to Seth Rogen.

At last year's Emmys, Schitt's Creek's record-breaking 15 nominations and nine wins (seven of which were primetime) — including recognition for the performances of each of its four leading actors — made Schitt's Creek the most-awarded single season of a comedy series in its final year of eligibility.

After last month's news that Dan Levy will co-write and star in an animated series for Hulu, it was announced last week that he's inked a TV and film development deal with Netflix. Meanwhile, Schitt's Emily Hampshire was on the receiving end of a DM slide from Demi Lovato.
