Tim Heidecker Shares Heartbreaking Folk Song About American Abortion Ban

All proceeds for "To the Men" will be donated to the Yellowhammer Fund

Comedy genius Tim Heidecker is known for his absurdist sketch comedy as much as his wry, satirical songwriting. In response to the proposed abortion bans in Ohio, Georgia, Alabama and elsewhere, however, he's now delivered an entirely serious protest song.

"To the Men" is as haunting as it is beautiful, seeing Heidecker sing thoughtfully atop some acoustic guitars that are reminiscent of Neil Young at his most stripped down. In his lyrics, he pleads with legislators to consider the chilling effects that their actions will have on young people in America.

Proceeds from the song, which can be streamed below and purchased here, will be donated to the Yellowhammer Fund, an organization that offers "funding for anyone seeking care at one of Alabama's three abortion clinics and will help with other barriers to access (travel, lodging, etc.) as well as able."

Heidecker will return to irony (or post-irony or something) when he releases What the Brokenhearted Do... on June 7 via Jagjaguwar. The album is a fictional breakup album about Heidecker's divorce, even though he's not actually divorced in real life.
