"Weird Al" Yankovic

"Word Crimes" (Robin Thicke parody) (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 15, 2014

Satirical songsmith "Weird Al" Yankovic is in the process of releasing a series of videos to help promote his latest pop-parodying LP, Mandatory Fun. Already we've seen him take aim at Pharrell with his "Tacky," and now he's poking fun at Robin Thicke and the text generation with "Word Crimes."

Set to the familiar, funky bounce of "Blurred Lines," Al spends times shaming people that tend to skip spellcheck, misuse contractions, and abuse the Oxford comma. Visually, we get a smorgasbord of dancing punctuation marks to help us in our time of need.

If you want the clown prince of parodies to turn you into a most cunning linguist, you may want to give his "Word Crimes" a peep down below.

You can also read Exclaim!'s new interview with Yankovic over here, where he talks all about "Word Crimes," Thicke and Mandatory Fun.
