Beavis and Butt-Head: The Mike Judge Collection Volume 2

BY Kevin HaineyPublished Jul 1, 2006

Uh, huh huh, huh huh. Huh huh, huh huh. Huh huh. Beavis and Butt-Head, like, totally suck. The eternal metal-head losers practically canonised the adolescent male of the ’90s: TV addicted, sexually frustrated and hopelessly ignorant and destructive, these two morons gave teenagers someone to identify with and parents role models to be frightened of. Mike Judge’s first major success as an animator finds the two perpetually snickering misfits wandering aimlessly headlong into a pile of offensive adventures, during which they mindlessly screw over adults in authoritative positions, endlessly attempt to score chicks and constantly receive beatings from older, cooler dudes. This second volume or season’s worth of antics comes spread over three DVDs, two of which contain a whopping 40 five-minute episodes and a third housing Beavis and Butt-Head’s music video commentary (which always featured some of their wisest cracks), promo spots (like their send-up of Vincent Gallo’s notorious ad campaign for Gap) and even the second part of a career analysis titled "Taint of Greatness” (during which the likes of Snoop Dogg and Trey Parker express their praise for the show). But unless you’re too young to drink in a pub, epic amounts of viewing these two dysfunctional kids lurking in their doldrums could cause your mental facilities to cease and rust. However, if you’re hankering for some cheap, adolescent laughs, you can always rely on Beavis and Butt-Head (and Mike Judge’s relaxed way of delivering comedy) to bring you the smack across the face you’re craving.
