Over the weekend, Casey Affleck took home the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Manchester by the SeaWhile many agreed that his acting in the film was exceptional, the win also amplified the voices of his critics, who believe he should not be celebrated in wake of his past sexual harassment allegations.

Actress Constance Wu was among the chorus of people speaking out against the dangerous message Affleck's win sends to victims of sexual harassment. While Affleck didn't speak on the allegations throughout the awards season, he has since discussed them with the Boston Globe.

When asked about the allegations, Affleck reportedly "paused and sighed heavily" before reinforcing that both sides of his now-settled court case have been instructed not to speak on the details of the case.

"I believe that any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else," he said. "There's really nothing I can do about it.... Other than live my life the way I know I live it and to speak to what my own values are and how I try to live by them all the time."

While shooting I'm Still Here in 2010, Affleck allegedly intimidated and sexually harassed two young female employees. They sued for sexual harassment and breach of contract, and the parties settled out of court.
