Yet another Saturday Night Live cast member has left the show. Chris Redd has announced that he will not return for the upcoming 48th season.
"Being a part of 'SNL' has been the experience of a lifetime. Five years ago, I walked into 30 Rock knowing that this was an amazing opportunity for growth," Redd said in a statement [via Variety]. "Now, with friends who have become family and memories I will cherish forever, I'm grateful to Lorne Michaels and to the entire SNL organization. From the bottom of my heart, I can't thank you all enough."
Redd has been with SNL since 2017, and in that time won an Emmy Award in 2018 for the song "Come Back Barack." His HBO special Chris Redd: Why Am I Like This? will arrive later this year.
Redd is the seventh cast member to leave the show ahead of the 48th season. Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson and Aidy Bryant exited at the conclusion of the 47th season, and news emerged last month that Melissa Villaseñor, Alex Moffat and Aristotle Athari were also departing. Four new cast members were added this month.
