Cineplex to Offer Free 'Sharkwater' Screenings in Memory of Rob Stewart

BY Josiah HughesPublished Feb 14, 2017

Earlier this month, Canadian director and environmental activist Rob Stewart was found dead after going missing during a dive off the coast of Florida. The filmmaker had been working on a follow-up to his acclaimed 2006 Sharkwater documentary. Now, in Stewart's memory, Cineplex has planned cross-country screenings of Sharkwater.

The event takes place on February 25. Instead of paying for a ticket, Cineplex asks that you make a donation to WWF-Canada.

Sharkwater premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006 and chronicles the way humans are contributing to the dwindling shark population.

The film will screen in Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Oakville, London, Windsor, Montreal, Halifax, Charlottetown and St. John's.
