After much speculation and a years-long fan campaign, Community is finally being spun off into a movie — although Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown and Chevy Chase aren't involved. It's coming to the streaming service Peacock next year.
Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong are all involved — as is, of course, show creator Dan Harmon, who will write and executive produce alongside Andrew Guest.
Harmon has been speaking for some time about making Community into a movie, saying earlier this year that it was a matter of "when and not if."
The community college sitcom ran for six seasons, from 2009 to 2015. When reports of the show's cancellation during its third season, fans campaigned to save it using the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndAMovie (a reference to a line from the show's second season). That hashtag has persisted, and with the upcoming movie, it has been fulfilled.
