While production on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things has been paused due to the writer's strike, it's been confirmed that at least one forthcoming new episode will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg.

Trachtenberg — whose credits include the acclaimed Prey10 Cloverfield Lane and episodes of Black Mirror and The Boys — confirmed news of his involvement on Twitter, writing, "Headed back to where it all began for me….the 80s."

While series star Finn Wolfhard shared earlier this month how he is "really antsy" to get started on Stranger Things 5, the Duffer Brothers previously expressed support for the striking members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA).

"Writing does not stop when filming begins," the series creators wrote on Twitter. "While we're excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong"

Of course, this means more time for Maya Hawke to ponder her character's Stranger Things 5 fate.
