Still doubting the assertion that we're in a golden age of television? Try this on for size: children's network Disney XD is going to air a live, televised Mario Kart tournament this weekend.
As Variety reports, the network will air the tournament on Saturday (December 5). The epic race has been given a suitably epic title, too, as the special has been dubbed Clash of Karts: Mario Kart 8.
To make things even more millennial, the tournament will see eight young gamers team up with YouTube personalities to compete in front of a live audience. Here's hoping no one curses on live television after getting fucked up by an unstoppable blue shell.
Disney XD is hardly the first company getting excited about eSports. As previously reported, Cineplex recently went all The Wizard and launched their own competitive gaming league.
