While rumours suggest it might feature real, working lightsabers, we haven't heard an official word on the project from some time. Today, however, Disney CEO Bob Iger has given us a rough time frame.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iger told investors that the 14-acre theme park will open in Orlando in 2019. This will coincide with the release of Star Wars IX, the final film in the franchise's current "Skywalker Saga" trilogy.
Construction on the Orlando park started in April 2016, meaning it'll take upwards of three years before the facility is up and running. A Star Wars park in Anaheim is also in the works, though it's unclear if it will open at the same time as the Orlando park.
