Director Jared Hess has had a rocky career since breaking through with Napoleon Dynamite. This year alone has been filled with ups and downs — the Zach Galifianakis/Kristen Wiig Masterminds was strangely cancelled right before it hit theatres, and now he's got another film on the way with Don Verdean.
The movie stars Sam Rockwell, Amy Ryan, Jemaine Clement, Danny McBride and Will Forte, and tells the story of an archeologist who gets wrapped up in the schemes of a local evangelical church. It looks like he plants a miraculous discovery in order for the church to build a religious tourist attraction — the exact sort of plot that has us going "Simpsons did it."
Either way, the first trailer from the film suggests it uses its cast well. You can check it out below. Don Verdean is set to arrive in December.
