Following a great first season, The Deuce is set to return to HBO next month, and we just got our first trailer.
Created by The Wire duo David Simon and George Pelecanos, the series will once again take us back into the gritty New York of the '70s, as the show explores the booming — and crime-ridden — sex industry of the time. In Season 2, the characters are now shown five years later, with the show set in 1977.
Despite sexual misconduct allegations against James Franco, he will once again star in The Deuce and is an executive producer.
In a statement to Variety earlier this year, Simon said: "We have no complainant or complaint or any awareness of any incident of concern involving Mr. Franco. Nor has HBO been approached with any complaint. In our experience, he was entirely professional as an actor, director, and producer."
Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is featured prominently in the trailer, will also return to the series.
The Deuce returns to HBO on September 9. Watch the new trailer below.
