Actor (and wife of pop star Justin Timberlake) Jessica Biel has come under fire for her support of environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a politician who has spearheaded the anti-vaccination movement.
On Instagram, Biel was photographed with Kennedy, as well as a number of prominent anti-vaxx advocates. (A series of photos have been collected by Jezebel).
Biel posted a photo of her own, claiming that she is not against vaccinations in its caption. That echoes Kennedy's statements, where he has previously called the "anti-vaxx" label "pharmaceutical propaganda."
"I support children getting vaccinations and I also support families having the right to make educated medical decisions for their children alongside their physicians," Biel wrote on her Instagram post.
That said, as The Daily Beast explains, many experts argue that vaccinations work best when they are mandatory as they enforce a sort of herd immunity against outbreaks.
In addition to myriad diseases, Biel's vaccination stance is also not immune to criticism online. As such, she's been mercilessly dragged on Twitter:
