Jodie Foster is no stranger to a murder mystery, and she'll be returning to the world of intrepid detective work as a lead in the upcoming fourth season of True Detective.
As reported by Variety, Foster will join the anthology crime series to play detective Liz Danvers, who's on the case after six men disappear without a trace while operating an Arctic research station in Ennis, Alaska.
Details beyond that — including when exactly the new season will arrive — are sparse. The series first debuted to critical acclaim in 2014 and starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Season 2 featured Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn, while 2019's third season starred Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff.
Foster's last film appearance was in 2021's The Mauritanian, directed by Kevin Macdonald. Her last TV role was as the voice of Maggie Simpson in a 2009 episode of The Simpsons. She also narrated the TV documentary film Makers: Women Who Make America in 2014.
