Having written and directed The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as creating Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., film and TV mainstay Joss Whedon has developed a strong working relationship with Marvel. That might be coming to an end, however, as reports indicate he might be entering the DC universe.
According to Variety, Whedon is nearing a deal to write, direct and produce an as-yet-untitled film focusing on the DC character Batgirl.
The project will mark the first standalone movie for Batgirl, and will also feature other characters from Gotham.
Whedon has also created Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse.
