Star Wars fans won't have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to get a glimpse at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art — just to Los Angeles.
The California city beat out San Francisco to become the future host of a massive $1 billion facility that will exhibit director George Lucas's personal art collection.
The museum will place an emphasis on "visual storytelling," showcasing both fine art and popular art, including paintings by Degas, Homer and Renoir, as well as illustrations, photography, film, animation and digital art — not to mention plenty of Star Wars memorabilia.
Additionally, the museum will strive to give visitors "an insider's perspective on the cinematic creative process." There will be daily film screenings that range from legendary cinema classics to newer, more innovative fare. The facility will also house an extensive art and cinema research library.
The futuristic-looking building will be constructed at L.A.'s Exposition Park and is currently looking to open in 2020 — on May the 4th, of course.
