Following Futurama and an obscure little project called The Simpsons, up-and-coming television star Matt Groening has sold another series. This time, he's working with Netflix, which has ordered 20 episodes of a show called Disenchantment.

The series is billed as a medieval fantasy comedy, starring the hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo and her personal demon Luci. According to Netflix, the trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses and other "human fools."

"Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you," Groening said.

The series' lead roles will be taken on by Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre. Its cast will be rounded out by John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.

Animation studio Rough Draft, which handled Futurama, will handle the series, which is expected to arrive in 2018.
