Following Piers Morgan's explosive exit from Good Morning Britain over his Meghan Markle comments, we now know the Duchess of Sussex herself made a complaint to ITV, making her one of the more than 41,000 people who complained to the U.K. broadcaster over the incident. At the same time, Morgan is defending his actions, saying "feedom of speech is a hill I'm happy to die on."
According to CNN, Markle lodged a formal complaint about Morgan, stating his comments could have a negative impact on others suffering from mental health issues, as well as degrade the seriousness of mental health in general.
However, her complaint apparently did not address the personal nature of Morgan's attacks against Markle.
As previously reported, Morgan said during Good Morning Britain this week that "I don't believe a word she says, Meghan Markle. I wouldn't believe her if she read me a weather report."
Despite the blow-out with ITV on Tuesday (March 9) and the thousands of complaints against him, Morgan is now doubling down.
In a tweet this morning, Morgan said: "On Monday, I said I didn't believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I've had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don't. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I'm happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I'm off to spend more time with my opinions."
His tweet also came with a photo of former British prime minister Winston Churchill, as well as the quote "Some people's idea of free speech is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage."

As previously reported, Morgan quit the hugely popular Good Morning Britain after the host drew a record 41,000 complaints for saying he did not believe Markle's mental health issues led her to contemplate suicide.
His comments were in response to Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey this weekend, when Markle said the UK press got so bad that she "didn't want to be alive anymore."
Announcing Morgan's departure from Good Morning Britain, ITV stated: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."
