Natalie Portman Threw the Best Shade at the Golden Globes

"And here are the all-male nominees"

An annual Hollywood highlight, the Golden Globes took place in Los Angeles last night (January 7), and while Oprah may have stolen the show, there were plenty of other memorable moments throughout the evening. Most actors and actresses wore black as a symbol of solidarity on the red carpet, and host Seth Meyers took shots at Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, but it was Natalie Portman who delivered the most biting line of the evening.

Following Oprah's standing "O"-worthy speech issuing in a new era for women, Portman joined Ron Howard onstage to present the award for Best Director. Howard announced the category, then Portman stepped up to the mic and declared: "And here are the all-male nominees."

Guillermo del Toro won the award for The Shape of Water, though his achievement has been overshadowed online by a barrage of responses to Portman's snarky — but true — zinger. See some of the best reactions from Twitter below.

Despite Lady Bird taking home the trophies for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) and Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical), director Greta Gerwig was not nominated in the Best Director category.
