Netflix to Begin Offering Video Games

Having formerly cornered the TV and film streaming markets, Netflix has now added video games to its list of future offerings.

According to Bloomberg, the streamer has enlisted former Facebook and EA Games executive Mike Verdu, who has been hired on as Netflix's new vice-president of game development as part of the push to diversify Netflix's offerings.

The project will find new gaming options appearing under a new programming genre alongside Netflix's current roster of content. The project is expected to launch within the next year.

Currently, the company does not plan to charge extra for the additional services.

News of the company's push for video game content follows last week's hiring of Netflix's first-ever head of podcasts, N'Jeri Eaton.
