It's the final day of the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, and that means handing out the awards — including the prestigious People's Choice Award, which went to Steven Spielberg's semi-autobiographical family drama The Fabelmans.
The runner-up for the People's Choice Award went to Sarah Polley's Women Talking, while Rian Johnson's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery came in third.
The People's Choice Documentary Award was won by Hubert Davis for the hockey doc Black Ice. Runners-up were Stephanie Johnes's Maya and the Wave and Babak Payami's 752 Is Not a Number.
The People's Choice Midnight Madness Award went to Eric Appel's parody biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Runners-up were Ti West's Pearl and Tim Story's The Blackening.
Among the other films recognized was Madison Thomas's Buffy Sainte-Marie: Carry It On, which won a Special Mention for Best Feature from an Emerging BIPOC Filmmaker from the Amplify Voices Awards. The three winners in that category were Nisha Pahuja's To Kill a Tiger, Martika Ramirez Escobar's Leonor Will Never Die and Vinay Shukla's While We Watched.
