When they're not making critically acclaimed films of their own, brothers Joel and Ethan Coen are dependable writers for hire in Hollywood. Up next, they're set to punch up a script about the deep web.
The pair have been hired to take over the screenplay for Dark Web, a film based on the true story of the online drug trade site Silk Road.
The film, which was formerly titled Silk Road, is based on a two-part Wired article from Joshuah Bearman. The first crack of the screenplay came from Dennis Lehane.
The story follows Ross William Ulbricht (known online as Dread Pirate Roberts), a young man who built the Silk Road store and, allegedly, became a murderous kingpin along the way.
