The Sets from 'Corner Gas' Have Been Demolished

Fans of Brent Butt's Canadiana comedy Corner Gas are in mourning today as the show's iconic set is being dismantled.

The fictional town of Dog River is set up in Rouleau, SK, but it must be taken down for health reasons. Built on a bog, the popular tourist destination has been sinking and is no longer safe.

"The foundation is beyond repair. The set is no longer safe for public use and will therefore be dismantled on November 4, when the lease on the property expires," a press release read.

The Corner Gas set was built in 2003, and expected to be a temporary location for the show's first season. Instead, it was used for the duration of the program.

Brent Butt tweeted about the closure, adding that pieces of the set will be donated to a Corner Gas walking tour in Rouleau.
