Body horror direction duo Jen and Sylvia Soska (better known as the Soska Sisters) will pay tribute to a genre veteran by remaking David Cronenberg's film Rabid.
According to Variety, the pair are remaking Cronenberg's 1977 film as a new TV series.
Rabid told the story of a young woman who was injured in a motorcycle accident. She then had a disastrous surgical operation that turned her into a bloodthirsty monster.
"The work of David Cronenberg is legendary and Rabid is much more than just a horror movie," the sisters said in a joint statement. "The real message of his film is powerful, and even more pivotal as we look at the world around us today. It's an honor to be involved in this love letter to his original, which we handle with the same respect as Paul Schrader's Cat People, Alexandre Aja's The Hills Have Eyes and John Carpenter's The Thing."
Rabid will shoot at an undisclosed location in Canada this summer.
