Thanks to Spotlight and Birdman, Michael Keaton has been having a career renaissance of late. Up next, however, it looks like he's going to return to one of his best roles, and we aren't talking about Batman.
Keaton's beloved 1988 Tim Burton team-up Beetlejuice has long been rumoured for a sequel, and now Burton reports that it's definitely happening.
In a new interview with Showbiz Spy magazine, Burton confirmed that he's definitely making a new Beetlejuice movie with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder.
"The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team, we have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael," Burton said. "We have the script in hand, everything is in place, all we need to do now is get ready to start filming."
Of course, talk of the Beetlejuice sequel was also swirling around while Burton was doing press for Big Eyes in 2014, so it's hard to know if we can trust him on this one.
Then again, if we want more Beetlejuice so bad, we could all just say his name three times.
UPDATE (03/11, 1 p.m.): According to MTV News, reports that Beetlejuice 2 is ready to shoot have been greatly exaggerated. A rep for Tim Burton told them that his Showbiz Spy quote was inaccurate, although the movie will still likely get made one day.
