The province of Ontario may have lifted its vaccine mandates at the beginning of the month, but businesses remain able to enforce their own. As previously reported, Toronto's Revue Cinema decided to keep its vaccination policy in place — and have now extended the requirement.
In a social media post, the city's oldest operating cinema wrote that its decision comes in response to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases following the end of vaccine and mask mandates province-wide.
"The Revue has made the decision to extend our Proof of Vaccination Policy for all screenings and special events until May 1st, 2022," the post reads, with the policy's original date of termination having previously been set for April 4. "We thank you for your patience and for continuing to support the Revue during this time."
Patrons of the Roncesvalles Ave. theatre will need to continue to provide proof of vaccination, but according to the Health and Safety section of the establishment's website, children under 12 are still to be admitted without vaccine certificates.
The Revue has been operating back at full capacity since February 21. As of March 21, masks are no longer mandatory to enter — but are still highly recommended when interacting with the staff, who will continue to be masked.
