Having already cranked out two critically acclaimed television series based on a group of New Mexico degenerates, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul auteur Vince Gilligan has signed on for an entirely different project. Namely, he's working on a Jack and the Beanstalk reboot for Disney.
According to Deadline, Disney has purchased a film called Beanstalk. It's described as a "revisionist take" on the popular fairy tale, and is based on a detailed outline from Gilligan.
While it's still early in the production stages, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul screenwriter Thomas Schnauz is fleshing Gilligan's outline into a proper script. Gilligan's also considering a spot in the director's chair.
It's hard to know what a Vince Gilligan take on Jack and the Beanstalk would look like, but we'd like to recommend "I am the one who 'stalks" as a suitable tagline for the film.
