There are no shortage of coming-of-age stories coming out of film and television, but one of the best we've seen in a longtime arrived at Sundance courtesy of comedian (and first-time feature film director) Bo Burnham.
Eighth Grade is sweet, hilarious and impossibly realistic, creating the sense of dread and agony that comes with life as an awkward teen. In our review, we said that the film "will bring you right back to the woozy agony of pre-pubescent insecurity."
In its first trailer, we get to meet Kayla (Elsie Fisher) who is attempting to navigate life as a shy, awkward girl who wants to be popular. While the themes sound familiar, they're executed with immense poise.
Watch the trailer for Eighth Grade below. The film hits theatres in July. Here's hoping it gets retitled Grade Eight for Canadian audiences.
