While we're not getting a new John Wick movie any time soon, we are getting news of a John Wick rollercoaster. Yes, a rollercoaster.
Today Lionsgate announced it will be erecting a 10-storey rollercoaster ride called "John Wick: Open Contract" at the Motiongate theme park in Dubai. In addition, Lionsgate is also making a coaster based on the Now You See Me series.
The "John Wick: Open Contract" coaster is set to open next year, and as Variety reports, riders will get a choice of two options when they board the ride. Either they can help John Wick — or hunt him down.
"You'll get two different experiences depending on which path through the queue you choose to get on the ride," said Jenefer Brown, executive vice president and head of global live, interactive and location-based entertainment at Lionsgate.
The coaster will feature a scaled recreation of the film's famed assassin hotel, the Continental.
"I think what's going to be amazing for fans is to have the opportunity to walk through the lobby of the Continental and experience different key moments in the settings that took place in the films," Brown said. "This attraction in particular is really about setting the story by putting people in this very immersive environment, and then you really get the action as you get on the coaster. It's 10 stories high, so there's definitely a level of intensity that's befitting of the 'John Wick franchise that guests will experience."
The Now You See Me rollercoaster, meanwhile, will be set in a casino.
So far, Lionsgate already has a rollercoaster based on The Hunger Games at Motiongate, as well as other rides based on various other DreamWorks and Columbia Pictures properties.
As for Chad Stahelski's next team-up with Keanu Reeves for John Wick: Chapter 4, that film is expected out on May 27, 2022. As previously reported, John Wick 5 is also heading our way, with filmmakers planning to shoot both sequels back-to-back.
