Months after the Oscars slap that broke the internet, Will Smith has taken to Instagram to apologize once again for smacking Chris Rock.
The video, which was posted to Instagram reels, begins with text that reads: "It's been a minute… Over the last few months, I've been doing a lot of thinking and personal work… You asked a lot of fair questions that I wanted to take some time to answer." Then, the reel pivots to a Q&A format where Smith gives more insight into the incident.
Addressing why he didn't apologize to Rock during his Best Actor acceptance speech, Smith claims he was "fogged out by that point." "It's all fuzzy," he said, adding that he's "reached out" to Rock, who is apparently "not ready to talk."
"So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you," Smith continued, addressing the slap recipient. "My behaviour was unacceptable, and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk." He then goes on to apologize to Rock's family, including his mother Rosalie and his younger brother Tony. "That was one of the things about that moment I just didn't realize," the actor went on, "and you know, I wasn't thinking just how many people got hurt in that moment."
He concluded to the audience: "I can say to all of you, there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment."
This is the second public apology Smith has made after losing his temper when Rock joked about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith's baldness, while apparently unaware that she has alopecia. In his most recent apology, he also expresses remorse toward Pinkett-Smith, clarifying that she hadn't said anything to provoke his outburst.

Following the incident, the Academy Board of Governors banned Smith from attending the Oscars for 10 years.
