This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy videogame franchise, and to celebrate the occasion, a run of orchestral concerts has been lined up to pay tribute to the long-running series.
"Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy — JIRITSU" will be coming to Canada for a show at Toronto's Sony Centre on December 2. Other concerts are set to take place in Tokyo, Osaka, Chicago, Sydney, London and Lyon.
"Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy — JIRITSU" will see the Distant Worlds Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus pay musical tribute to the game franchise through combining a full symphony orchestra with high-definition display of videos and art stills from the games on a 26-foot screen.
The orchestra will be conducted by Arnie Roth and will draw on music from the recently released Final Fantasy XV and more. Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu will also be in attendance for the Toronto date.
Tickets for the Toronto date are on sale Friday (February 17) at 10:00 a.m. EST, and can be purchased online and by phone at 1-855-872-SONY (7669).
Distant Worlds also has upcoming Canadian shows set for Edmonton on May 20 and Calgary on May 21, though they are not part of the 30th anniversary celebrations. Further ticketing information for the Calgary and Edmonton shows can be found here.
