After spending weeks in a Swedish prison, A$AP Rocky has officially been charged with assault.
Despite pleas from the likes of Kanye West, Justin Bieber and even Donald Trump, prosecutors charged the U.S. rapper today with assault causing bodily harm over a brawl in Stockholm that took place in late June.
And while 30-year-old A$AP Rocky — born Rakim Mayers — faces two years in prison if convicted, the prosecutor tells TMZ the full two-year sentence will not be recommend if the rapper is found guilty. However, the prosecutor did not reveal what the recommended sentence would be.
The brawl took place in Stockholm on June 30, and A$AP Rocky has been in custody since July 3.
In the lead-up to the trial, A$AP will continue to be held in a Swedish jail. However, a trial date has not yet been set. It's expected to be held within the next two weeks, and the trial will last three days.
Two members of the rapper's crew have also been charged with the same crime. They too will be held in prison to await trial.

"We think it was self-defence, but the prosecutor has chosen to go with the injured party's version," the rapper's lawyer Slobodan Jovicic told CNN, adding his client is "very disappointed" the prosecutor has "chosen to go with the other party's version" of events.
Swedish prosecutor Daniel Suneson, meanwhile, has claimed A$AP Rocky and his crew assaulted the victim by kicking and beating him with a whole or part of a glass bottle, according to court documents obtained by CNN.
Suneson said he had determined the events constituted a crime "despite claims of self-defence and provocation" — even after reviewing all the video evidence and witness statements.
"It is worth noting that I have had access to a greater amount of material than that which has previously been available on the internet. In addition to video material, the injured party's statements have been supported by witness statements," Suneson said.
While Trump has offered to personally vouch for the rapper's bail, the bail system does not exist in Sweden.
