Jack White Becomes Focus of New Biography

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jun 3, 2016

With Jack White's list of music industry accomplishments growing lengthier each year, it's only fitting that they would all be compiled in one singular Third Man Records-branded tome of knowledge. That day will come this fall with the arrival of biography Citizen Jack: How Jack White Built an Empire From the Blues.

Penned by music writer Nick Hasted (The Independent, The Guardian, Uncut), the book will tell the complete story of White's life in 320 pages. The tome is based on interviews with those close to White, including Raconteurs bandmate Brendan Benson, Neil Young and Seasick Steve. Hasted has previously written biographies on Eminem and the Kinks.

"Citizen Jack is the only book yet to tell the full story of the 21st century's most influential rock star," a description reads. "Not only that, it is the definitive history of the Detroit scene in which The White Stripes first flourished. No other book goes as deep into the lore of Jack White and The White Stripes."

Citizen Jack is set for an October 4 release. You can pre-order a copy of the book here.

UPDATE (6/3, 10 p.m. EDT): Jack White's Third Man label has issued a statement to clarify that neither White nor the label had any involvement with the book.
