Brighton, England’s Adam Freeland follows up his decent Back to Mine comp with a much stronger, fluid mix courtesy of the Global Underground label. Having relocated to Los Angeles, he crossed the border to perform this sold-out gig at the Club Continental in Mexico City. As he tends to, Freeland breaks out a balanced mix of the freshest hits currently soundtracking techno, house and indie clubs alongside a handful of classics. His song selection certainly echoes the cream of the shit-hot crop, dropping everything from Does It Offend You, Yeah? and Gui Boratto to Fujiya & Miyagi and Kavinsky, providing enough contrast to catch your ear while not losing your attention with monotony. Freeland has a knack for surprises but they don’t always work. An unfortunate standout is Silversun Pickups’ recent modern rock hit "Lazy Eye,” which despite a reliable, club-tested tempo, sounds like the unwanted black sheep of this flock. He does a nice job of rebounding with the deep abyss of Substance and Vainqueur’s "Immersion,” however. Mexico City does bring one hell of a sweaty party, and anyone throwing this on will definitely end up in need of a good shower.
