Thanks to Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, Scott Walker: 30 Century Man will finally make its way to DVD. Apparently, Yauch's Oscilloscope Films recently acquired North American rights to Stephen Kijak's film and will give the music doc a proper theatrical release, as well as a take-home package, in the coming months.
According to Screen Daily, Oscilloscope will "take over" what until now has been a very limited and self-released theatrical run, expanding the film's engagements throughout North America and releasing its DVD sometime this spring or autumn. For many Walker fans, this will mark the first chance they'll get to check out this fascinating inside look at the reclusive songwriter, whose film biography was originally supposed to come to DVD last spring on Plexifilm after debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007.
There's no word on what went down with the now-soured Plexifilm deal but all that really matters is that 30 Century Man will soon be readily available.
If you're not sure who Walker is, the film gives a rather stunning introduction, proving just how revered this man is by featuring glowing testimonials by the likes of David Bowie, Radiohead, Brian Eno, Johnny Marr, Damon Albarn and Pulp's Jarvis Cocker.
Here's just a taste of the film:...
