Surprise, surprise — Adele has done it again. Coming off her recent victory at the Golden Globes, the mega-famous British belter has yet another prize to add to her mantelpiece in the form of an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Skyfall" from the 2012 film of the same name.
Her James Bond theme came out on top in a field that also included "Suddenly" from Les Misérables, "Everybody Needs a Best Friend" from Ted (performed by Norah Jones), "Before My Time" from Chasing Ice, and "Pi's Lullaby" from Life of Pi.
Adele was on hand to accept her award along with Paul Epworth, the producer with whom she co-wrote the track. She also performed the song at the ceremony, which took place this evening (February 24) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. This marked the first time she had ever sung it live. Adele previously said of her Bond theme, "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track, and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done, which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!"
