The Art of Drowning

BY Stuart GreenPublished Oct 1, 2000

This is more like it. After the truly horrible Black Sails in the Sunset record, the kings of East Bay (Berkeley, CA) hardcore get back to doing what they do best. There are only a few traces of the heavy metal experiment gone wrong that was their last album. Instead, this record is heavy on the hardcore. Only on "6 to 8" and "Morningstar," on which the band sounds like a sick cross between New Jersey brethren the Misfits and Bon Jovi, do they flirt with mock-metal balladry.
