Against Me! Set 'Transgender Dysphoria Blues' with January Due Date

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 24, 2013

Florida punkers Against Me! have finally fit their long-in-the-works Transgender Dysphoria Blues LP with a due date. After many setbacks and lineup changes, the record arrives January 21 through the group's own Total Treble imprint, though the Australian pressing drops via Resist Records.

A press release notes that the 10-song follow-up to 2010's White Crosses is a highly personal account from frontwoman Laura Jane Grace, and the song cycle finds her "grappling with gender dysphoria, the loss of a young friend and pure self discovery, as well as love and ultimate acceptance."

The record was tracked at Studio 606, Earth Sound Studio, Motor Studio, Total Treble Studio and mixed by Billy Bush (Garbage, Muse, Tegan and Sara). As previously reported, bassist Andrew Seward left the band during the conception of the collection, but NOFX's Fat Mike helped lay some bass down on "FUCKMYLIFE666" and "Unconditional Love," which also feature Adam "Atom" Willard (Rocket From the Crypt, Danko Jones) on drums.

New song samples have yet to arrive, but stripped-down, acoustic versions of album tracks "FUCKMYLIFE666" and "True Trans Soul Rebel" had previously appeared on the True Trans EP, which was released last summer on 7-inch and as a digital download.

That's the somewhat NSFW album art above.

The band report that they will tour next year in support of Transgender Dysphoria Blues, but show details, as well as lineup details, have yet to be delivered.
