Andrew W.K. Readies 'I Get Wet' 10th Anniversary Reissue

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 23, 2012

Earlier this month, Andrew W.K. headed out on tour to remind us that it's been a whole decade since he first partied his way into the mainstream with I Get Wet, and now the sweat-soaked rocker has announced his beloved album will get a deluxe reissue this year as well.

A press release explains that Century Media Records will deliver the revisited version of I Get Wet on July 17. The two-disc collection will package the original 12-song album with a bonus disc of previously unreleased live recordings, demos, and alternate mixes. A limited autographed version of the reissue will also be available, and will include something extra personal from W.K. This may include anything from a ticket stub to a lock of hair.

If you were looking for a newly pressed analogue edition, I Get Wet is also being pressed on vinyl, and will feature a double gatefold LP jacket.

Major label Island had previously issued I Get Wet, but W.K. is plenty pumped to have the redux delivered by Century Media. He admitted in a statement that he's been a fan of the imprint since buying his first Mayhem record.

"It gives me great pride and pleasure to confirm that Century Media is the destined home for our special edition of I Get Wet," he said. "It also gives me proof that dreams not only come true, but that they make dreams into real power. Never in a million zillion years would I have imagined that the black wizards would use their cosmic keys to create a time for my humble musical dreams. The moon may be frozen, but its cold light is brighter than ever. Let my album's release and all our collective efforts help shine an even brighter light on all of humanity, and to further prove that the manifestation is not just underway; it is complete."

While the reissue is still a few months off, W.K. is currently out on the road playing the iconic album in full. You can see the dates, including a stop at the Phoenix in Toronto next Tuesday (March 27), down below.
