Anstam

Metropolis, Montreal QC June 2

Anstam stood centre stage, dwarfed by two giant LED screens hanging from the ceiling above, showing images of grids, the artist's name and leaf-like patterns above a bank of blindingly bright lights. The house lights were off creating an eerie vibe in the room as the dark industrial sound echoed throughout the cavernous main space. Anstam, best described as the halfway point between dubstep and IDM with a strong industrial influence, has a dark, dystopian sound. The beats packed a satisfying punch, and they became more and more fractured until it reached the territory of the un-danceable broken rhythms of Autechre or Venetian Snares. A full-on experience with great drum samples and large amounts of bass.
