Daniel Lanois has been very productive lately. He's got an album called Flesh and Machine due out on October 28, and another one slated to follow soon after, but he's still not too busy to remix a song for the Antlers.
In its original form on Familiars, "Doppelgänger" was a stately, solemnly-building ballad. Lanois' version is even more simmering in its drawn-out slow-burn, while the rhythm section is downplayed and the soft orchestrations take centre stage.
This is being released to promote "Anti-Thesis," a Lanois-curated show at Brooklyn's Masonic Temple on November 10 consisting of artists from the Anti- roster. Hear the remix below [via Stereogum]
