Apex Theory

The Apex Theory is all about timing. From the strange swing-like momentum of "Come Forth” to the odd and sometimes disturbing time changes, the group will likely have just as many people hating them as loving them. Their style may be due in part to three of the four members being heavily influenced by their heritage as Armenians, or growing up in Los Angeles; where every culture slams into one another like a highway pile-up. It is drummer Sammy J. Watson who often steals the show on the disc, with his unusual drum rolls and abrupt shift in pace, yet he isn’t flamboyant. Vocalist and lyricist Andy Khachaturian has an understated sense of humour (as evidenced in "Bravo,” where he sings, "But socialites have beautiful skin”) yet he uses very few lyrics, which leads to heavy repetition of choruses in each song. In the end, there are a lot of layers to listen to on the record and the more you listen, the more you’ll hear.
