Aphex Twin

"minipops 67 [120.2]" (source field mix)

Aphex Twin blew everyone's minds earlier in the summer we he announced his upcoming Syro release, his first LP since 2001's Drukqs. Now, he's given ravenous fans the first proper taste of the set via a stream of ambient dance track "minipops 67 [120.2]."

Though set up with a steady clack of drum machine snares and the clang of a synthetic ride cymbal, the tune plays it rather chill with the rest of the arrangement. Also mixed in are echo-heavy bass tones, a Dimetapp-dipped ripple of piano, seasick synths, and heavily processed vocals that run either robotic or melodious. We can't be entirely sure, but it also sounds like Aphex Twin got extra-terrestrial pig to grunt a few bars on the end of the track.

You can check it out down below, while Syro officially arrives September 23 via Warp.

As reported earlier today, Syro will apparently be followed up sometime in the future by "a couple more albums, some EPs [and] things like that."
