Beloved Vancouver jangle-punk outfit Apollo Ghosts called it quits last year, but the musicians haven't wasted any time in launching a new project. Frontman Adrian Teacher and bandmate Amanda P have now teamed up with local drummer Shawn Mrazek to form Cool. The band have unveiled their debut video, and a full-length will follow later in the year.
The album is called Paint, and it will be out this spring on Yellow Plum Records. It was recorded this past fall by esteemed production pair JC/DC (Destroyer, the New Pornographers), who previously helmed Apollo Ghosts' first couple of LPs.
For a taste of the new sound, watch the video for "Blue" below. It makes a big departure from Apollo Ghosts' succinct minimalism, as it features four minutes of atmospheric grooves, echoing guitar layers, female backing vocals, blaring horns and blippy synths. It features Karl Blau on sax and flute.
As for the accompanying video, it's a lo-fi affair that shows a woman dancing to the upbeat song. Check it out at the bottom of this page.
